Head of Growth Marketing | Amazon Grocery
Rose Jia is the founder of RenaissanceMarketer.com and a quintessential “Renaissance Marketer”, as she is an award-winning multi-disciplined leader who leverages her wide and differing industry knowledge to build patented innovative products and solutions.
Currently, she heads up growth marketing for Amazon’s omnichannel grocery division, including brands like Amazon Fresh. She and her team drive profitable growth through awareness, discovery, conversion, partnerships, and go-to-market initiatives. She inspires her team to adopt the Renaissance Marketer mindset: (1) multi-disciplined, (2) long-term investment focused, (3) balanced between the art and science of marketing. “Everyday, I remind my team to ‘think outside the box’ by pulling learnings from their previous industries into their current initiatives/projects.” Because her team manages a lot of marketing investment, she ensures her team thinks about ROI and ties their marketing activities back to topline metrics (e.g. new customers acquired, revenues generated), whether it be immediate or long-term. She also brings a lot of the ‘art’ in marketing to Amazon’s more data-driven (science-based) approaches.
Before Amazon, she was an investment banker, corporate financier, and entrepreneur (The TechSeri.es Company, Whiskey Me Up).
Tips/advice:
- Be a sponge for knowledge. There’s a reason behind every decision, so learn from those reasons. Why did the architect build in this manner? Why did the entrepreneur decide on this product? Why did the financing of that business fail?
- You gotta market marketing to your business partners. Everyone thinks about problems from their point of view, so you must think about addressing and presenting problems to business partners like they’re the customer. What are their needs/wants? How do you address them in their language?
